The Artist…

I am a multi-disciplined artist, who spent over 30 years living and working abroad—most notably in the United Arab Emirates, where my art career flourished.  My work was heavily influenced by my love of the desert, the traditional culture and the wildlife of the region. During my time in the United Arab Emirates, I held numerous solo exhibitions at prestigious venues such as the Dubai World Trade Centre, Majlis Gallery, Ibn Battuta Hotel, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, and Bait Muzna Gallery in Muscat, Oman.

My work has been featured in countless joint exhibitions and art fairs across the UAE and beyond, including INDEX Dubai, the inaugural World Art Dubai Exhibition, the Falconry & Hunting Exhibition in Abu Dhabi—where I was awarded top honours for three consecutive years for my falcon paintings—and I also showcased my art at Dubai’s Global Village, various five-star hotels, and exhibition centres throughout all seven Emirates, as well displaying and selling my artwork and designed gifts at the prestigious Madinat Jumeirah resort.

Throughout my career, I collaborated extensively with leading interior design firms, supplying bespoke artworks for private residences, including those of prominent local dignitaries and for public building including landmark hotels such as The One & Only Royal Mirage, the Conrad Hilton, The Sheraton and Vida Dubai.

In response to regional sensitivities, I created both figurative and non-figurative work, utilising a wide range of media including oil, watercolour pencil, and printmaking. I also taught drawing and printmaking at a respected art centre in Dubai.

A highlight in my career was when I was commissioned by the United Arab Emirates Postal Service to design a series of postage stamps celebrating the region’s natural history and cultural heritage. Over several years, I produced nine issued sets and more than 50 individual stamp designs. This project involved in-depth research, working closely with experts in botany, ornithology, and entomology, and visiting museums, research facilities, and private collections.

Additional highlights of my career include a live three-day collaborative wildlife mural for BP at an environmental exhibition in Abu Dhabi, involvement with the Dubai Natural History Group and the Arabian Leopard Trust, and a number of commissioned illustrations and falcon paintings for DNATA clients.

Outside of traditional art, I also designed, wrote, and illustrated a walking guide to the historic area of Dubai. I developed and marketed a range of locally inspired tourist gift items, available at major hotels and Dubai Airport duty-free.

After returning to the UK and stepping back from the art world due to a personal tragedy, I continued to create digital artwork whenever possible. This website is the culmination of those designs. These pieces are available for a range of applications—from textiles and wall art to print-on-demand and licensed products. Many designs can be customised in terms of size, colour, and configuration to suit individual client needs.
